LIMITED WARRANTIES FOR MATERIAL & INSTALLATION

We want to thank you for your recent purchase of floor coverings.

*All flooring products must be installed in livable temperature conditions.  The temperature condition must be maintained throughout the life of the product to keep any warranty valid.*

In order to avoid any future misunderstanding, we encourage you to carefully read limited warranties that pertain to the type of products we have delivered or installed in your home or business.

CARPET  LIMITED WARRANTY

MATERIALS

All first quality carpets sold by Southern Floors are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects only.  If it is determined that the carpet has a manufacturing defect within one year of the installation date, a repair or replacement will be made, including any installation cost, provided Southern Floors installed the carpet.

All manufacturer's’ warranties concerning wear, performance, texture retention (anti-crush, anti-mat), stain resistance and clean ability are strictly their own.  The manufacturers’ limited warranties are very narrowly defined, have many conditions and exclusions and most are pro-rated.  Please read the entire warranty.  


INSTALLATION

Southern Floors will repair or re stretch any carpet we installed up to 90 Days from the date the installation was completed.  This warranty covers only the standard practice of the installation trade and does not cover damage due to improper cleaning, tears, pulls, cuts, burns, pet damage, abnormal use of carpet, visible seams, or installations made in cold buildings under 72 degrees, or due to high heat above 95 degrees.  

Carpet seams are not invisible.  Most broadloom carpets are manufactured in 12’ widths.  Some are made in widths of 13’6” and 15’.  Rooms that are over the size of these widths must be seamed together.  Selvage edges must be trimmed and cut edges seamed together.  Most carpets will show a line where seamed.  Carpet seams that are made using the standard trade practices, yet are visible, are excluded from any warranty claims on the basis of visibility.  Light from low windows or doors may highlight seams that normally would not be noticed.  Seams that fall in these areas are not covered under this warranty.

Most commercial installations require several widths of carpet be installed side to side.  Carpet manufacturers are limited to the number of lineal feet that may be dyed in order to achieve a good side match of color.  Failure to match is not an installation error, and therefore not covered by installation warranties.  Some concrete floors have high moisture or alkaline content.  Seams that fail due to this condition will not be covered by any warranty.  Please note small scratches may appear on walls or baseboards where carpet is installed.  This is caused by the carpet backing rubbing against it, this is normal and usually unnoticeable. We do our very best to prevent but we cannot be held responsible if it occurs.


CERAMIC TILE LIMITED WARRANTY

CERAMIC INSTALLED OVER CONCRETE

Warranties by tile manufacturers are strictly their own.  Any product that has failed will be reported to the manufacturer for any possible resolution.  Some movement in the substrate can cause tile and grout to develop cracks.  This is normal since tile will not flex.  Cracked tile or grout is excluded from any warranty.


CERAMIC INSTALLED OVER WOOD

Wood is not 100% dimensionally stable and will react to changing humidity in a home or business.  This condition may cause tile and grout to crack, many times soon after installation.  The use of concrete board in the installation procedure is recommended.  Cracked tile or grout installed over suspended wood floors is excluded from any warranty.  Warranties by tile manufacturers are strictly their own.  Any defect will be reported to the manufacturer for any possible resolution.


CERAMIC INSTALLED OUT OF DOORS

The climatic changes and freeze/that cycle precludes any warranty of labor or materials where tile has been installed where exposed to elements.


CERAMIC TILE IN WET AREAS

Water can penetrate some tiles and grout.  Waterproofing materials should be applied to the substrate before the tile installation begins.  Various products are used.  The manufacturers warranties are strictly their own.  If the waterproofing membrane is punctured, any implied warranties will be voided.

Urethane or silicone caulks are used to seal the transition where the wall tile meets the floor.  This may require periodic maintenance.


UNDERLAYMENT

While the use of concrete underlayment panels are required for the installation of ceramic tile on a plywood subfloor, these panels provide a smooth bonding surface but do not affect the structural characteristics of the subfloor.  Existing deflection and expansion/contraction of the subfloor can cause cracking of the ceramic tile or the grout.


INSTALLATION

Southern Floors installs ceramic tile in accordance with guidelines established by the Tile Council of America.  Defects in the installation of ceramic tile will be corrected for a period of 90 Days from the date the installation was completed.  This warranty covers only the standard practice of the installation trade and does not cover damage due to improper cleaning, improper maintenance or damage due to subfloor movement.


HARDWOOD WARRANTY

MATERIALS

All first quality hardwood floors sold by Southern Floors are warranted by the manufacturer to be free of manufacturing defects.  Manufacturing defects must be reported immediately after installation.

Manufacturers produce “second” qualities.  They give their seconds names, such as “Cabin Grade” or “Tavern Grade.”  They are not first quality and are not warranted by the manufacturer or by Southern Floors.

Humidity variances in the home or business may make the boards separate or swell.  This is normal and is not considered to be caused by defective material or labor; and, therefore, is not covered by any warranty.

Cupping of hardwood flooring planks is caused by one reason and one reason only – moisture content being greater on the bottom of the plank than on the top.  This is caused by excessive moisture in the crawl space under the home.  This condition may be caused by one of or a combination of the following:  peculiarities to the space, lack of polyethylene ground cover or improper drainage of the property.  Cupping of hardwood floors is not a material or installation defect and is not covered by the terms of this warranty.


INSTALLATION

Southern Floors installs hardwood flooring according to the guidelines established by the various manufacturers.  Defects in the installation of hardwood flooring will be corrected for a period of 90 Days from the date the installation was completed.  This warranty covers only the standard practice of the installation trade and does not cover damage due to improper cleaning, improper maintenance or damage due to subfloor movement or damage due to normal expansion or contraction of the hardwood flooring.


LAMINATE WARRANTY

MATERIALS

All first quality laminate floors sold by Southern Floors are warranted by the manufacturer to be free of manufacturing defects.  If it is determined that the laminate floor has a manufacturing defect, it will be repaired or replaced including installation costs, proved Southern Floors installed the laminate.  The time period of this warranty against manufacturing defects will vary depending on the grade of laminate and the manufacturer.  Please consult with your salesperson as to the specific terms of your particular warranty.  Please read the entire warranty.

Laminate flooring is subject to expansion due to excessive moisture in the home or business.  This moisture, whether from plumbing leaks or excessive moisture vapor caused by high humidity conditions can cause laminate flooring to buckle and/or swell at the joints.  Problems caused by excessive moisture are not covered by the terms of this warranty.


INSTALLATION

Southern Floors installs laminate flooring according to the guidelines established by the various manufacturers.  Defects in the installation of laminate flooring will be corrected for a period of 90 Days from the date the installation was completed.  This warranty covers only the standard practice of the installation trade and does not cover damage due to improper cleaning, improper maintenance or damage due to subfloor movement or damage due to normal expansion or contraction of the laminate flooring.


VINYL WARRANTY

MATERIALS

All first quality residential vinyl floor coverings sold by Southern Floors are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects only.  If it is determined that the vinyl has a manufacturing defect, it will be repaired or replaced including installation cost, provided Southern Floors installed the vinyl.  The time period of the warranty against manufacturing defects will vary depending on the grade of vinyl and the manufacturer.  Please consult with your salesperson as to the specific terms of your particular warranty.  Please read the entire warranty.


UNDERLAYMENTS AND SUBFLOORS

Many vinyl installations require the use of an underlayment board.  The underlayment boards provide smooth bonding surfaces for vinyl products, but do not affect the structural characteristics of subfloors.  Problems with materials installation as result of subfloor movement due to deflection or expansion and contraction are not covered by this warranty.  All underlayment materials must be approved by Southern Floors prior to installation.


INSTALLATION

Southern Floor’s installs vinyl floor coverings according to the guidelines established by the various manufacturers.  Defects in the installation of vinyl floor coverings will be corrected for a period of 90 Days from the date the installation was completed.  This warranty covers only the standard practice of the installation trade and does not cover damage due to improper cleaning, improper maintenance or damage due to subfloor movement.


MOISTURE AND

FLOORING MATERIALS

Many floor covering materials installed where moisture exists, and rolling loads can fail.  Floor coverings that fail due to existing or topical moisture and exposed to rolling loads are not covered under the terms of this warranty.


Southern Floors can change or alter this warranty at anytime. d Warranties do not cover conditions caused by improper use or maintenance, such as: 1. Reduction in gloss, marks, scuffs, scratches, gouges, dents or cuts, including, without limitation, those caused by pets, spikes or high heeled shoes. 2. Damage caused by negligence, accidents, misuse, or abuse (i.e., dragging object across the floor without proper protection). 3. Wear caused by pebbles, sand or other abrasives, construction traffic, or failure to maintain the floor as required 4. Damage caused by caster wheels, rolling loads or vacuum cleaner. 5. Failure to support furniture with floor protectors that at least one inch in diameter, made of non-staining felt or non-pigmented hard plastic, rest flat on the floor and are replaced regularly. • Splits, cracks, grain raising, checking, edge fracturing, splintering, chipping, end lifting, swelling, shrinking, cupping and bowing that occurs during or after the floor has been installed and as a result of abuse, misuse, improper maintenance or care, exposure to excessive moisture or improper environmental conditions (i.e., low or high humidity) are not covered by these limited warranties. The use of a humidifier/dehumidifier may be necessary to maintain the proper humidity level between 35%-55%. • Wood flooring installed in full bathrooms with a shower or tub. • Damage caused by fire, flooding, and other natural disasters and Acts of God. • Changes in color due to aging, excessive moisture, exposure to sunlight or Ultra Violet rays (which may cause oxidation of finish/ stain) is not considered a defect. Certain species including, but not limited to, American Cherry, Walnut, Brazilian Cherry, Acacia, Tigerwood, Santos Mahogany and African Mahogany are especially susceptible to color change. Area rugs should be moved occasionally, as they block sunlight and may give the appearance of discoloration under the rug. • Color, shade, or texture variations between samples, printed color photography or replacement flooring and the actual material. • Color variations between flooring and/or samples and other flooring or wood products, which you wish to match (e.g., cabinets, stair railings, trim, etc.). • Deficiencies related to subfloor/floor joist assemblies, subfloor preparation materials, and fasteners including, but not limited to, uneven subfloor surfaces, floor deflection or voids in the subfloor. • Noises including, but not limited to, squeaks, popping, etc. • A product deformity that is not measurable or that is visible only under certain light or from a certain angle is not considered a defect and is therefore not covered by these warranties. Visible defects should be evaluated by their visibility from a standing position in normal lighting. • Natural wood characteristics such as variations in grain, color, mineral streaks, knots, normal differences between color of samples and the color of installed floors, and color variations from board to board. • Natural expansion and contraction resulting in separation between boards or damage caused by low or excessive humidity. • Products designated as “thrift,” “antique,” “tavern,” “bargain,” “cabin grade,” “seconds,” “economy grade,” “close-out,” “offgoods” or “non-standard.” Such products are sold “AS IS.” • Floors that are installed in other than owner-occupied or tenant occupied   residences. • Commercial installations of residential products. • Construction or installation-related damage. • Floors damaged by subfloor moisture or water damage, including without limitation, due to broken or leaking water pipes, flooding, wet-mopping spills or weather conditions. • Installation defects, including installations made: (i) in violation of applicable state or local housing or building codes, or (ii) contrary to written instructions furnished with the product. NOTE: YOU AND YOUR INSTALLER ARE RESPONSIBLE TO INSPECT FLOORING PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. WE ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR LIABILITIES, CLAIMS OR EXPENSES, INCLUDING LABOR COSTS, WHERE FLOORING WITH VISIBLE DEFECTS HAS BEEN INSTALLED.

Southern Floors can change or alter this warranty at anytime.   


Returns:

All sales are final. If returns are accepted there will be a fee of 35% plus freight cost and packaging. Please be aware it takes approximately 3 weeks to order product.
